IBM pSeries Services:
Logical Partitioning (LPAR)
LPAR allows workloads from multiple systems to be consolidated to a
single pSeries machine, thus significantly cutting IT costs while
minimizing risk. LPAR involves a single pSeries system’s resources
(processors, memory, etc.) being divided to create multiple independent
pSeries systems within the same system. The end result of this pSeries
partition is the system being “separated” into a primary partition and
one or more secondary partitions. Each pSeries partition can then be
used for different purposes, such as database operation or to separate
test and production environments, and can communicate with the other
partitions as if they were each in a separate machine.
Optimus’ LPAR services
offer the planning and guidance of an experienced LPAR consultant and
include:
- Hardware design and planning
- On-site inventory and LPAR validation tool (LVT) review
- Installation of the pSeries server, including set up and
configuration of the LPARs
- Loading secondary partitions with appropriate operating system
- LPAR configuration documentation
