Server Consolidation:
LPAR
LPAR (Logical Partitioning) allows workloads from multiple systems to
be consolidated to a single machine, thus significantly cutting IT costs
while minimizing risk. LPAR involves a single system’s resources
(processors, memory, etc.) being divided to create multiple independent
systems within the same system. The end result of this partition is the
system being “separated” into a primary partition and one or more
secondary partitions. Each partition can then be used for different
purposes, such as database operation or to separate test and production
environments, and can communicate with the other partitions as if they
were each in a separate machine.
This type of server consolidation provides a flexible and granular
allocation of system resources. After a partition, the redesigned system
has flexibility in allocating interactive performance and high-speed
internal communications between partitions.
Optimus Solutions builds LPAR solutions using the LVT (LPAR Validation
Tool), which accommodates all features as well as internal and external
disk. Optimus can design and implement this type of consolidation on any
server model as well as perform migration services from older technology
With LPAR, the range of possible business
scenarios is endless.
