OPTIMUS SOLUTIONS LAUNCHES HEALTHCARE PRACTICE TO BETTER SERVE CLIENT NEEDS

Atlanta IT Provider to Host Healthcare CIO Forum on April 24

Norcross, GA – April 23, 2007 – Optimus Solutions, a comprehensive technology solutions provider and value added reseller (VAR) based in suburban Atlanta, announced the launch of a new practice area dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of healthcare clients.

The healthcare practice focuses on the complex IT needs of hospitals, physicians groups, insurance providers and integrated delivery networks. The practice is headed by Bob Shapiro, an IT veteran in healthcare and life sciences who previously served as practice leader for healthcare workflow transformation at IBM Consulting Group before joining Optimus in 2006. Optimus’ growing roster of healthcare clients includes Cardinal Health Care, Gwinnett Medical Center, Atlanta’s Northside Hospital and more.

“There is a growing need for advanced infrastructure services in the healthcare sector which traditional VARs have ignored,” Shapiro said. “Optimus is in a unique position to provide not only hardware and applications needed by healthcare providers, but also expertise in areas like server virtualization and consolidation, advanced network security, RFID solutions and business continuity/disaster recovery planning.”

Mark Metz, CEO of Optimus Solutions, said, “Natural disasters – from Hurricane Katrina to the recent tornado that flooded the IT center at Sumter County Regional Hospital in south Georgia – can wreck havoc on a healthcare provider’s ability to provide care when it’s needed most. Having a good business continuity plan in place before disaster strikes ensures that patient care can continue uninterrupted in a time of crisis.”

In addition to disaster recovery, services provided by Optimus for healthcare clients include security solutions such as encryption of physician emails and other correspondence to protect confidential patient information, and the development of dashboards with single sign-on access that integrates security across multiple computer systems. Applications also are provided to track staff schedules, patients and supplies in real time, ensuring that resources are used most efficiently. All applications and systems are customized to fit the unique needs of each client.

The new practice will be highlighted on April 24th at the Healthcare CIO Forum 2007 hosted by Optimus in Atlanta. This event will bring together CIOs from hospitals and other medical providers throughout the Southeast to discuss how IT solutions are transforming the way healthcare is delivered to patients. Optimus also plans to hold two classes on HL7, a healthcare industry protocol designed to enable information exchange in the areas of pharmacy, medical devices, imaging or insurance (claims processing) transactions.
