Process Improvement

Optimus Consulting’s business process improvement solutions redesign business processes and their associated systems and organizational structures to help our clients achieve improved business performance related to their goals.

Process improvement in business focuses on areas such as:

  • Enhancing Process Control

  • Repeatable and predicable outcomes

  • Sustainable long term solutions

  • Reduction in errors, wastage and rework

  • Reducing cycle time

  • Eliminating non-value adding activities

  • Development & Deployment

One of the most recognizable process improvement methodologies and most recognized is Six Sigma and the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Quality Management Control) approach to problem solving. DMAIC is the cornerstone method used for improving existing processes when designing new Six Sigma-compliant products and services from the ground up.

The DMAIC process involves:

  • Define: The Six Sigma team is identified and project goals are defined. Also defined are critical-to-quality-characteristics (CTQs), as seen by customers.

  • Measure: Current processes are scrutinized to determine the existing performance. The team identifies those processes that influence CTQs and collects the data necessary to quantify the problem.

  • Analyze: The root causes of the defects are determined and analyzed so that performance objectives can be outlined.

  • Improve: The team defines the maximum acceptable ranges for the variables that are causing defects and amends the process to minimize these deficiencies.

  • Control: Tools such as IBM's Business Process Server and Monitor are put in place to monitor the process and ensure that future process performance remains optimized.
